Our story
A Taste of Home. A Legacy of Tradition.
Before Audumbara became a brand, it was simply our home.
A kitchen filled with the aroma of freshly roasted spices. Recipes remembered by heart. Meals prepared slowly, patiently and with love. And a mother who believed that some things are best made the way they have always been.
Audumbara began with Mala Yathiraj and her daughter, Vaishnavi Raj, brought together by a shared love for food and a deep connection to authentic Iyengar cuisine.
Growing up, we were surrounded by recipes that were never just written on paper. They were passed from one generation to another through watching, tasting, learning and doing.
We learned that truly good food does not need to be complicated. It begins with the right ingredients, traditional methods, patience and care.
Roasting spices at the right pace.
Grinding them at the right moment.
Choosing ingredients we trust.
Following methods that have stood the test of time.
And never taking shortcuts when it comes to flavour.
For years, these were simply the flavours of our home — part of everyday meals, festivals, family gatherings and countless memories around the dining table.
Then one day, we asked ourselves:
“Why should these flavours remain only within our family?”
That thought became Audumbara.
Our purpose
More Than Food
Audumbara is our way of preserving the soul of authentic Iyengar food and sharing it beyond our family kitchen.
In a world where everything is becoming faster and more convenient, we chose to stay close to the traditions we grew up with.
Every powder, pickle, gojju and homemade delicacy carries the influence of our heritage, family memories and the kitchens that shaped us.
Each product is prepared with the same thoughtfulness we would give to food made for our own family.
Because when you make something for the people you love, you do not compromise.
That is the standard we bring to Audumbara.
Shared with care
From Our Kitchen to Yours
Every Audumbara recipe carries a little piece of our story.
A familiar aroma.
A flavour from childhood.
A festival remembered.
A meal shared around the family table.
And when an Audumbara pack reaches your kitchen, we hope it becomes part of your story too.
Because our greatest hope is not simply that you enjoy our food.
It is that, for a moment, it feels like home.
